SPORTSMIND TRAINING SportsMind Training is designed for amateur athletes, professional athletes, coaches, and teaching professionals. The basic presupposition is that the goal of most athletes is to improve skills, to keep those skills sharp and precise, and to be able in competitive situations to access and execute those skills on a consistent basis. Our objective is to provide the mental training that will help athletes maximize the power of the mind to reach those goals. Most everyone associated with sports will agree that mental training and skills are critically important. I had a football coach recently tell me that football is 95% mental. And yet this same coach who has about 20 coaches to assist him has no one on his staff who is specially trained in the mental aspect of sports performance. And he is not alone. I believe that most athletes and coaches will talk about the importance of mental preparation and training but most do not make the commitment to address that aspect of their sport. This training is for the most part designed for the athlete who has excellent mechanical skills. The goal is to increase consistent peak performance and maintain that consistency. It is also designed to help the athlete who is struggling with confidence and mechanical execution. These issues would include being in a slump, having self-doubt, performance anxiety, obsessive negative thinking, self pressure, inability to concentrate, angry outbursts, erratic performance, fear of failure, self criticism, impatience, lack of focus, and anything else getting in the way of peak performance. The athlete will be given a written and verbal assessment designed to uncover the root of the problem/s. Once this information has been assimilated, the goals are clarified and a plan for overcoming the problem is formulated and the work begins. We will continuously consult and confer with the coach involved to get input and feedback on the training and progress of the athlete. Two Training Sessions w/ New Clients (2012) SportsMind Training is offering a 2 session training course for golfers who already have good mechanical skills.
