PSYCHOTHERAPY

ImageThe word therapy is from the Greek root meaning, “to heal.” To heal means to be free from disease or ailment; restore to health; restore to a sound condition; to become whole.
Psychotherapy is an invitation to go within yourself and discover what healing means to you so you can define your vision, your direction for this part of your journey.

My thoughts on the therapeutic process: One of my roles is to excite a perception within you that change is possible and that you have the resources inside you to make those changes and that you can wake up to the fullness of your life. Another role is to teach you the skills you need to make those changes. Your role is to believe that you can change and do the work necessary to make those changes. You will gain many insights during this process and you may discover answers to some of the questions related to, “why am I like this…?” And even though this information may be interesting, it will not be of much value in helping you make the changes you have identified as your goals. Those changes come through learning and practicing the skills you will need to reach your goals. Change does not come during the therapy session; it comes between the sessions.
